Every great spirit begins with a story. This is ours.
The Telling House was inspired by Ireland’s tradition of the seanchaí — the storytellers who carried culture, history, and identity from one generation to the next. These stories were shared in homes, around tables, and in the warm glow of hospitality. They weren’t performances; they were connections.
That spirit lives at the core of The Telling House. A place where fine spirits are given the same care, craft, and attention as the stories that shaped them. A place where brands find their voice, and where education, advocacy, and hospitality come together to create something meaningful
The Experience Behind The Telling House
For more than two decades, Ray Daniel has lived at the intersection of hospitality, education, and fine spirits. His career began behind the bar, where he learned that great service isn’t just about technique — it’s about connection, care, and the stories that bring people together. Those early years shaped a philosophy he carries into every part of his work today.
Ray went on to become an award‑winning bartender, bar manager, and eventually a national whiskey ambassador, representing some of the world’s most respected spirits. In those roles, he trained teams across Canada, led masterclasses, built advocacy programs, and helped brands communicate with clarity and authenticity. His approach has always been the same: make people feel confident, make the craft feel accessible, and make the story unforgettable.
The Telling House is the natural evolution of that journey — a place where Ray’s hospitality roots, trade expertise, and storytelling heritage come together. It’s built on the belief that fine spirits deserve more than marketing; they deserve meaning, connection, and a voice that feels true to who they are.
Our Philosophy
At The Telling House, our philosophy is simple: great spirits deserve great storytelling. That means treating every brand with the same care and intention you’d find behind a well-run bar — clarity in communication, confidence in execution, and a genuine respect for the craft.
We believe education should feel welcoming, not intimidating. Advocacy should feel authentic, not performative. And storytelling should feel true, not manufactured. Whether we’re training a team, shaping a narrative, or designing an experience, the goal is always the same: help people connect with fine spirits in a way that feels meaningful, memorable, and real.
This approach blends hospitality, strategy, and creativity — ensuring every project is grounded in purpose, elevated by craft, and delivered with heart.
The Telling House Difference.
Fine spirits deserve more than surface‑level marketing — they deserve someone who understands the craft, the culture, and the people behind them. What sets The Telling House apart is the combination of trade expertise, hospitality experience, and storytelling heritage that shapes every project.
With over twenty years in bars, brand advocacy, and education, Ray brings a practical, real‑world understanding of how teams learn, how guests connect, and how brands grow. That experience is paired with a storyteller’s instinct — the ability to find the thread that makes a spirit memorable, and to express it with clarity, warmth, and authenticity.
Most importantly, The Telling House works with the same values found in great hospitality: care, intention, and respect for the craft. This isn’t about creating noise. It’s about creating meaning — and helping fine spirits speak with a voice that feels true.
